Answers to the most commonly asked questions for your bowfishing trip
1. How many people can I bring on my bowfishing trip?
Answer: The airboat will accommodate up to 6 Shooters per boat. We have a 4 person minimum per trip. We can accommodate a Party up to 24 persons if you have a large group depending on the date you book your trip.
2. What time do we need to arrive?
Answer: Please arrive at least 1 hour prior to sundown. This will give the Captain time to give you instruction on the equipment and safety procedures and tips on bowfishing before you head out at sundown.
3. How long do we get to bowfish?
Answer: Your bowfishing trip will normally last for 4-6 hours depending on when your Party reaches their limit of Redfish. If you get tired and want to call it a night just let your Captain know.
5. Can children or people with disabilities bowfish?
Answer: Yes, as long as that child can pull back a bow with a draw weight of 20 lbs. then they will be able to shoot the fish. Let us know up front if you have any children bowfishing. We have child bows for the Kids.
Yes, people with disabilities can bowfish as long as they can pull back a bow with a draw weight of 20lbs or between 35-40lbs with the adult bows. We have taken the Wounded Warrior Heros on bowfishing trips with wheelchairs on the airboat and they have done fine.
6. What is the average draw weight on your bowfishing bows?
Answer: Our bows are AMS Bowfishing Bows the best in the Archery business. Our child bows have a draw weight of 20lbs and our adult bows have a draw weight of 35-40lbs.
7. What if I have never been bowfishing before?
Answer: NO PROBLEM! The Captain will give you instruction on how to properly use the equipment, tips on bowfishing and safety procedures before the trip. A Deckhand will also be on your trip to assist you if you need help.
8. What kind of fish will we be shooting?
Answer: You will be in the Salt Water and marsh here in Louisiana so you will see Redfish, Flounder, Alligator Gar and Drum to name a few. You may see some Stingrays and Porpoises but they are OFF-LIMITS.
9. Do I need a Fishing License?
Answer: Yes, if you are a Louisiana Resident you will need a Basic Fishing License $9.50 and a Salt Water License $5.50. If you are from Out-of-State you can purchase a 3 day Charter Fishing License for $10.00.
10. Can I take my fish home?
Answer: Yes, your fish cleaning is included in the trip price. The Deckhand will have your fish cleaned, bagged and in your cooler before you head home the next morning. *Please bring Gallon Zip Lock Bags and a Cooler.
11. Are gratuities included in my trip charge?
Answer: No, tips are not included. The Deckhand and Captain work hard to make your trip enjoyable and adventurous and help you catch lots of fish. If you can show your appreciation it will be greatly appreciated.
12. What do I wear?
Answer: Louisiana weather is know to be unpredictable. Dress for the season bit also bring a light raincoat or jacket for Summer and heavier layers for the Winter Season. It may be cool on the airboat right out and in at night.
13. What snack and drinks can I bring? Can I bring alcohol?
Answer: You are allowed 1 cooler on the bowfishing trip. You can bring any snacks or water and soft drinks that you would like. The only alcohol allowed is Beer. *If anyone is intoxicated they will not be allowed to board the airboat and go on the trip.
14. Do you have overnight accommodations available?
Answer: Yes, we have rooms available for your Party to stay. Marsh Masters RV Park is on site and we have rooms that will accommodate your Party whether small or large. We provide clean towels, sheets and blankets. You only need to bring your toiletries and clothes.
15. Where do we eat?
Answer: There are several local restaurants to eat in the area. About 15-20 minutes away there are grocery stores, Walmart, shopping and fast food restaurants.
16. How far are we from the beach?
Answer: Grand Isle is approximately 15 miles away. There is a State Park with access to the beach.
17. Can I just take an airboat ride?
Answer: We do give 1 hour airboat rides through the marsh for $100 per person (minimum 4 people) with advanced booking. This is for people that just want to see what it’s like to ride an airboat and you get to see the beautiful wildlife of birds, small animals and fish we have here in South Louisiana. If you are lucky you may see some porpoises swimming around out there. Be sure and bring your camera!
